Air conditioning regulations

Climate conditioning brings real comfort during episodes of high heat. In addition to cooling the ambient temperature, some appliances regulate humidity and purify the air inside the home. There are even reversible air conditioners that can be used as heating in winter. But air conditioning is subject to many regulations both at the time of sale and at the time of installation or in the operational phase. The "air conditioning regulation" is set by the state . In this article, you will find all the information you need to air-condition your apartment or your home knowingly. This will prevent you from being in violation.

Air conditioning regulations: regarding installation

The regulation of air conditioning at work is strict, in order to protect employees. Refrigerating towers are particularly monitored to prevent the onset of legionellosis, a bacterium that poses a deadly risk to humans. Individuals must also comply with the installation of individual split-type air conditioning, air conditioning consisting of a compressor located in its outer unit and an interior unit with a link refrigeration in between. Single-block air conditioners with a power plant and an escape sheath are not affected by this obligation. They present a lower risk because the refrigeration fluid is contained in a single unit. This type of cheap device is only suitable for small areas and consumes a lot of energy.

The installation of a split air conditioner must be carried out by a professional with a certificate of installation capacity issued by a certified organization. The salaried air conditioners of this professional must have a certificate of aptitude. When purchasing the device, you will have to justify to the seller that you have signed up and put it into service with a professional. If this is not the case, many sales surfaces and specialized dealers offer to do the installation themselves or entrust it to one of their subcontractor.

The aim of this air conditioning regulation is to protect both users and the environment. Indeed, the handling of refrigerant gas, a harmful gas, requires a real know-how. The refrigerator is also able to comply perfectly with the air conditioning regulations in the vicinity. A decree of 31 August 2006 allows, in fact, to punish noise pollution due to an air conditioning unit too noisy. The ambient noise limit is set at 25 decibels. Failure to comply with these regulations constitutes a neighbourhood disorder punishable by a 5th class fine (1,500 euros).

Air conditioning regulations

In general, the habitat meeting the standards  is intended to achieve energy savings and have an efficient heating system. On the other hand, air conditioning systems are less prominent.  values passive air conditioning systems, such as vegetated roof terraces, or built-in air conditioning systems such as sunbreakers or self-closing shutters.

In addition, dynamic refreshment is penalized by computing engines. In order to comply with the current thermal regulations, two conditions must be met. First of all, the house must be equipped with adequate equipment, a refreshing heating floor or a reversible heat pump, for example. Second, air conditioning must have a primary energy consumption (CEP) below the figure set by the legislator. This figure differs depending on the location of construction and takes into account climatic conditions. It is on average 50 kWhEP/m2. Cooling or air conditioning systems impact this consumption. This is to be compensated by better insulation and/or a decrease in heating in winter.

Taking into account the consumption of air-refreshing appliances in the thermal balance of a house will be an even more delicate problem in the context of RT 2020. This new regulation will provide that the newly built buildings will be BEPOS (Positive Energy Buildings), buildings that produce more energy than they consume.
